Maine law requires requires that any person without a commercial outfitter’s license file a free noncommercial trip registration prior to launching a whitewater craft on the Kennebec River or West Branch of the Penobscot River. The registration must be completed by each person using the craft for each day on the river.
The camping area at Indian Pond is now privately managed by Indian Pond Family Campground and the sites are available for advance reservation online.

Please note: The short-term schedule is intended to provide a general forecast of flows during the specified period. Actual flows may deviate from this forecast at any time.
Brookfield White Pine Hydro (BWPH) is proposing a series of additional non-commercial recreational boating flow releases at Harris Station to provide boating opportunities following several missed releases earlier this season. These releases will supplement the remaining scheduled boating flows and are intended to provide opportunities comparable to those that were missed.
Proposed additional releases are planned for:
-Monday, September 7 (Labor Day)
-Sunday, September 20
-Saturday, September 26
-Sunday, September 27
-Sunday, October 4
-Saturday, October 10
In developing these plans, BWPH sought to maximize the recreational value of the additional releases by concentrating them on weekends when participation is typically highest. These supplemental release dates were also selected to avoid overlap with scheduled Dead River releases so that paddlers would have access to distinct recreational opportunities rather than competing events occurring on the same day.
